About Amana
Amana is part of Whirlpool Corporation, which also owns Maytag, Amana and KitchenAid. Models across these brands share platforms, so an error code defined on one brand often applies to the others. We are not affiliated with Whirlpool Corporation.
What every Amana model page gives you
- Certified specifications. Capacity, dimensions, voltage and annual energy and water use — the values Amana filed with ENERGY STAR, not marketing copy.
- A manual link that actually works. Where Amana publishes a direct PDF we link it. Where it does not, we give you the exact full model string the lookup page demands, including the colour suffix that trips most people up.
- Part numbers, not part guesses. 10 manufacturer part numbers across the range, each paired with the symptom that part is known to fix.
- Error codes with a severity split. 0 codes documented, separated into the ones you can chase yourself and the ones that mean a board has failed.
- Recall status. Checked against the public recall database and stated plainly, including when the answer is “nothing on file”.
How to read a Amana model number
A Amana model number is a compact code, not a random string. The first letter tells you the appliance family, and the letter after it separates front load from top load. The digits encode the series and feature level, and the trailing letters and numbers are the colour and revision.
That last group is the one that matters when you go looking for a manual. The base number (for example NFW5800H) is what appears on a retailer page. The full number with its suffix is what the manufacturer's support site indexes. If a lookup tells you the model does not exist, you almost certainly left the suffix off.
