Fix It by What It Does Wrong
You do not need the model number to start. Every appliance that will not drain, will not spin or will not heat fails for the same short list of reasons, and the order you check them in barely changes. Pick the symptom and work down the list.

Why symptoms come before models
When an appliance breaks you usually know the symptom and not the model. The model plate is behind the door, under the lid, or in a place you cannot reach while the machine is full of water. Working from the symptom gets you to a decision — fix it, or call someone — without needing to find that plate first.
Once you do have the model number, the model page gives you the exact part numbers and the codes that machine can actually display. Both routes end in the same place.
