What you will see

Most likely causes, in order

Listed from the most common and cheapest to check, to the least common and most expensive. Work down the list — do not jump to the last item because it is the one that sounds serious.

  1. Control board or UI initialization error
  2. Loose or corroded harness between the UI and the ACU
  3. A board replaced with an incompatible revision

Safe checks you can do

Before you start: This code reports an internal fault. The checks below are limited to power-cycling and confirming your model number — do not open the cabinet.
  1. Unplug the washer for 5 full minutes, then plug it back in and watch the display.
  2. If the code appears again immediately at power-up, stop retrying.
  3. Note the exact model and serial number from the plate for the technician.

When to call a technician

The code returns at the next power-up. This is an internal board handshake failure.

Also call if you see or smell burning, if the breaker trips when the washer starts, or if water has reached any electrical part. Those are stop-now conditions, not check-it-later conditions.
