F8E6

The lid was left open. After about 10 minutes the washer treats the open lid as a fault and pumps out the water.

What you will see

Most likely causes, in order

Listed from the most common and cheapest to check, to the least common and most expensive. Work down the list — do not jump to the last item because it is the one that sounds serious.

  1. Lid left open for more than 10 minutes mid-cycle
  2. Lid switch not detecting the closed lid
  3. Something propping the lid slightly open

Safe checks you can do

Before you start: unplug the appliance and shut off the water supply. Do not open panels that expose mains wiring. Anything involving gas, 240 V circuits or the sealed refrigerant system must be done by a licensed technician.
  1. Close the lid fully and press POWER to clear the display.
  2. Start the cycle again — it will refill and continue.
  3. Check that nothing is caught under the lid edge.

When to call a technician

F8E6 appears with the lid firmly closed and nothing resting on it.

Also call if you see or smell burning, if the breaker trips when the washer starts, or if water has reached any electrical part. Those are stop-now conditions, not check-it-later conditions.
